You Are Not Your Conditions. You Simply Cause Them.
The domino effect of your thoughts

I’ve just finished David Cameron Gikandi’s book entitled “A Happy Pocket Full of Money” which talks a lot about quantum physics and uses it to explain how we create our reality. To me, it reiterated that the most fundamental quality to have, and ultimately master, is self-awareness.
In a world saturated with distractions, expectations, and noise, it’s easy to feel disconnected from our true selves. We chase goals, measure worth by external standards, and often let temporary conditions define who we are. But beneath the facade lies the fact that we are not our conditions. We simply cause them.
This idea may sound radical at first, but it carries a profound wisdom — one that can empower us to shift from victimhood to conscious creation. To change our life, we must start by understanding that our life and circumstances are our thoughts expressed. The reality we experience externally is a mirror of the stories we tell ourself internally.
The Power of Thought
It has been said that 90% of our thoughts are repetitive. What we think about most becomes our default state of being. If those repeated thoughts are rooted in fear, scarcity, or limitation, our life will reflect that back to us. You might feel stuck in a job, a relationship, or even in your own body — but often, it’s not life that’s stuck. It’s your thinking.
As long as we argue for our limitations, we’ll find evidence to support them. It’s not possible to argue for our limitations and be happy at the same time. We must choose: defend the reasons why our life can’t improve, or choose happiness, freedom, and expansion.
And, bizarre as it may sound, choosing happiness can be scary. Because it means stepping into the unknown. It requires faith — in ourselves. I stayed in a toxic relationship for six years convincing myself that everything was ok, or at least would be some day. But that day never came.
All Journeys Are True, But Not All Are Factual
There’s a subtle distinction between what is true for someone and what is factually true. Beliefs, trauma, upbringing, and culture colour our perception of reality. As such, all journeys are true — but not all are factual. One person might see failure as an end, another as a beginning. Both are true from their perspective, yet the facts of the situation remain the same.
This is why mindset work and spiritual growth are not luxuries — they’re necessities. They help us reframe our internal narrative so we can align with what we truly want, not what we fear.
At the time I didn’t know if, let alone how I would regain my sanity, health and peace. But I did. Because I chose to have faith in myself.
Desire and Intent with Detachment
The paradox of manifesting change lies in balancing desire and intent with detachment. Wanting a better life is natural. Intending to change is powerful. But clinging to outcomes creates resistance. Detachment doesn’t mean not caring — it means trusting. Trusting that the actions we take today will ripple into the results we want, even if they show up in ways we didn’t expect.
This mindset opens the door to flow. It breaks the cycle of force and failure and replaces it with alignment and grace.
Rewriting the Script
To move forward, consider these practical steps:
Observe your thoughts: Awareness is the first step towards transformation. What are you telling yourself every day?
Challenge the narrative: Are these thoughts helping you grow, or keeping you limited?
Affirm your power: You are not your condition. You are the thinker of your thoughts — and you can change them.
Set your intentions: Choose what you want, act in alignment, and release the need to control the outcome.
It’s About Progress, Not Perfection
You are not broken. You are becoming.
The key to personal freedom isn’t in fixing ourself — it’s in remembering who we are beyond the noise. Our circumstances are our thoughts expressed, and the moment we decide to think differently, our world begins to shift.
So, ask yourself: What thoughts am I choosing today? Because those thoughts are building your tomorrow.
Wherever you are in your journey, always remember that YOU ARE ENOUGH.
